Is realignment of gauge pins in dash panel possible?

Good Day,

When removing a branded faceplate from my gauge displays, I chose to remove the pins from the Fuel and Heater gauge housings by pulling straight out. Given the force I needed perhaps I should have chosen against this option. But I did it anyway. And then put them back in, trying to use the same force, but feeling I may have been slightly off center and pushed an internal mount/clip out of place. I am able to "sort of" get things working - but it operates as any balanced device thats been removed from its center. It can't be relied upon.

Does anyone know how these are mounted or the physics behind it? Are these magnetized? Is there a directionality I haven't been able to figure out involved?

Sadly I didn't take a picture of the rear of the winding with the cap off -but its sealed and the two halves of the plastic are held together by the surrounding coils.

Does anyone have any intimate experience with this before I take the easy way out and buy another gauge setup?

Thanks!

No idea never done that....

But if your out of options and can see the alignment of it....heat it up with a lighter and stick it back in??

Ouch!! (maybe) I have never done this, but if you don't find any answers here try the UK page… they are a pretty tech savvy lot and have helped me out quite a bit!! if you don't know the link, here it is.
