does anyone have or know where I can get an alternator for my L300 for a REASONABLE :? price?
thanks all.

Did you try Rising Sun?

I replaced mine with a 100A non oem. $380 not cheap, but it was the cheapest one I could find.

Don't delay fixing it though - the overcharging issue destroyed my glow plug system - which was also not a cheap fix. I was driving my already warmed up van when it started to click like crazy. I was on the highway and couldn't stop. It did this for about 30 seconds to a minute - then never worked again.

It also burned out my headlights. In retrospect, I'm an idiot for not noticing the overcharging for so long.

It is a standard alternator and any alternator shop will be able to rebuild.

the only thing different is an oil seal on the vacuum pump mounted on the back. Google on here and the alternator shop in Richmond can help with sourcing the seal (or if you have a week to wait for shipping send it down to them: mine was around $250ish for a rebuild).

Unless you have a need for 100+amps I would just keep it stock....

I googled it: (http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 3&start=15)

The alternator rebuild place Mardy told me about was Brighouse Auto Electric at 8888 Beckwith Rd. In Richmond.

They asked me to bring the alternator in. Does anybody have pictures/procedure for re&re for a '93 Pajero 2.8 (or Delica pics would be probably be helpful too).

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Al,
I had my alternator rebuilt at warrens on sexsmith road kelowna.they did a great job at a decent price. Two years later and not a problem!
If you need an alternator while they rebuild yours I think I have a old spare you can borrow....

Alternatively ( :-) ) you could just fix it yourself. The regulator is just a big chip inside the alternator and is replaceable. A rebuild shop should be able to sell you a new one. If you can use a soldering iron you should be good to go. Better replacing a $50 part than tossing the whole shebang. While you're in there, brushes are generic and only cost a few bucks.
