door won't close properly - striker?

My drivers side door won't close properly when holding the handle up to lock. The mechanism works fine using the key, but that is a pain in the ass - to close the door, then use the key to lock the van. I notice that the plastic sheath that fits over the striker has split so I'm wondering if something as simple as that might be the culprit. I recall something similar with my wife's honda when some little plastic shims wore out on the latch and the door would not latch properly [no matter how hard you slammed it ;)].

Anybody know?

This exact same thing just started happening to mine as well... The other new thing is that I'm also getting wet floor on the driver's side all of a sudden, so I'm guessing they are somehow related.

I am also having these problems. I just assumed that the locking door thing only ever worked form keying the out side, and yes it is a pain in the ass.does any one have a deli that you lock the inside get out and close the door and it stays locked?

At least if you use the key to lock the doors, you can't lock your keys inside!!!!

one of the first things I did when I got the vehicle was to install a remote locking module... so much easier! just walk away and press the button on the keyring... I could even program it to auto-lock 30 seconds after I close the door.
