Rear Tent and camperizing

Hey there folks,
I'm currently in the process of camperizing my '93 Delica High Roof. I've been toying with different options/set ups and have finally narrowed it down to something I'll be happy with. So I had a roof top tent. But it was waayyyy up there and scary getting in and out of it. Especially after a few cocktails
I was gonna install a custom kitchen with fridge, sink, and stove.... But there's not much room inside. So I decided on something simple and practical. I scored an old pull out bed from a hippy friend. It came out of an old VW Westy. It's the perfect starting point for the conversion as it fits right in there and the hinge mechanics works perfectly. I've got an old friend, a retired woodworking teacher helping me. Well,, who am I kidding. He's doing the work. And what he's doing is building custom cabinetry around this thing. There'll be drawers out the rear tailgate for storage as well as under the bed. It's going to be finished in a grey laminate to give it a factory look. I had a curtain made custom for the front and what we did was install snaps around the front and side windows. It's just like a Westy. I installed the snaps where the screws are to hold the sun visors in place. Pull down the visors and snap in the curtain....
I removed the rear seats and had a beautiful piece of industrial carpet edged to the shape that it is. Pretty sweet...
The only other thing I wanna do is install a rear tent. I know it was an option for these vans as I've seen it on the brochure that's been posted on here. But good luck finding one.... I've got this great woman who helped me with the sewing of the front curtain. I thought about making something with her but thought I'd ask on here if anyone has found a tent that works that you can just buy. I know a few companies that make new tents for the old Westys.
I know it's a long shot. But you never know unless you ask....
I'll post pics soon. I think it's gonna be pretty sweet once it's finished.
Cheers, Phil
