Hi
Just wanted to bounce a Delica i am looking at off you guys and get your opinion.
I am an Australian traveling in South America and have a chance to buy a L300 Delica Exceed 1991. that has been somewhat camperised South America style (lockers, bed shelf and a kitchenette in the back).
Thing is i have been sniffing around the Delicas in Canada on Kijiji and this sites classified and it strikes me that he wants overs. The van has done a couple of laps around SA from BC judging by an older add i found.
It looks like the current owner has been hit with heavy repairs which may influence his price.
Any how a translation of the ad is as follows. It would be appreciated if anyone could give me an insight as to a fair price of this vehicle.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Who knows after a year i might rock up in BC to pimp my wheels ;)
Pictures are here:http://flint.rtwblog.de/2014/07/13/unse ... edamerika/ Sorry i tried to upload them but couldn't get them to fit :(
Cheers
Gemma

Re: Delica Buying Advice - From a foreign land edition
If the service records are legit and the engine and trans were recently rebuilt, then I could see why it would be a little more, plus the camperization. Up here, depending on the quality of the camperizing, I would say the asking price wouldn't be that much less. Especially if it had been well maintained.
I don't know what the vehicle market is down there, but there are some advantages to buying something already kitted out. If the service records are in order, hit them with a low offer and barter it out!

Im on the other side of the fence on this one.
In decent shape maybe 4,000.
I think owners try to recoup losses to a vehicle by saying... needed a tranny, needed
a rebuild. Spent this much money.
Instead it should be 'maintaining' value.
It's not worth 11k with that many km on it.
It looks pretty worn.
Hate to spend that much and have the IP go on you.
It said it was 'cleaned' and that doesn't mean much if it requires new
injectors and a rebuild.
My 2 cents

Hi Kangagirl
I agree with Firesong that the value is far less than what they are asking. Cracked heads and IP's are a big repair cost for the diesel engines.
Picture yourself trying to sell this vehicle when you want to leave the country.
Good luck
