combo switch replacement failure Delica L300 Exceed 92

Hello,

It was around Easter of 2014 when I first noticed that my Dash lights were shorting out intermittently and then failing for good altogether. At the same time my rear taillights failed. With a little research I determined that the problem was with the Combo Switch (wipers/ lights/ turn signals lever). I bought a new Combo Switch (which as many of you know is not cheap) and replaced the switch.
After the replacement everything seemed to work just fine. Taillights and interior lights were working properly for the better part of the rest of the year. Just recently however on my way home from Tofino I heard a click and my interior lights and taillights were out again. Symptoms are the same as before however I have been told that these combo switches do not really ever burn out, especially not within one year.
I'm not really too excited about replacing the combo switch again and running into the same problem in the not too distant future. I haven't done anything yet so any thoughts or suggestions around this topic are welcome.

Thanks for any feedback,

Steve

That sounds more like either a fusible link or an old plastic connector having burned out, both can be found in the battery bay. Regarding the combo switch, there is an article on it in the L300 Dedicated Category Reference Forum (found in Delica Canada Technical) under "Body Electric".

P.S.: Another option for you is to contact Overlander Jay (site guru when it comes to "electrickery"). The guy's enlightened. When he walks into the room, there's a certain glow that emanates from him, along with this quiet hum. Best not to look directly into his eyes. Seriously 'though, he knows his onions, as it were.

Ok thanks,

Any clues as to where to look as to the fusible links in the battery bay? If I'm looking in the right place all the links look connected properly. Am I looking for an actual fuse?

Still struggling to get the taillights and dash lights issue worked out. The combo switch seems to be working fine. I have checked the connections in the battery bay and from what I can see everything looks OK.

Its just the taillights and the dashlights and everything else seems to be OK. Are these two lights on a separate circuit maybe?[flash=][/flash]

How do I get a hold of Overlander Jay?

Go to the member list section (button is at the upper right part of this page); go to "O" of the alphabet, I think he's page seven; click on the name and send him an e-mail or PM.
