Was heading down to coombs to discuss importing vans, decided to pop into the valley to look at one that was just listed and decided to get it. Its a '94 royal exceed, quite happy with it.

Have so many questions, heres a couple short ones.
What kind of rpm should I be keeping the engine at? I was around 2800 on the highway yesterday going 120km/hr, is that ok for long periods? If I went over 3000 things got very loud, was that the turbo kicking in? Is it safe to push the vehicle like that for passing and accelerating?
My headlights are both cracked, can I just replace the plastic cover? Or do I need to get new ones? I know they are quite expensive new...

RPM is normal for that speed. And yes the engine gets noisy over 3000. Its a small displacement diesel and that RPM just works it hard. I have an EGT gauge to monitor the exhaust heat so I use this in conjunction with RPM and coolant temp to ensure my engine lasts a long time.
The L400 is not a speed demon ride but it will purr all day long at 110KPH if its running right.
Hedlight lenses are glass and if yours are cracked they should be replaced. Lenses alone will run about $450 a pair and you need to be sure you get the correct E-Code type for Canada so that the light beam is pointing the right way.
These guys should all have stock on this item and they are all in the Vancouver Area.
Amazing Auto
Rising Sun
Maximum Overdrive
You might get lucky and find a set of lenses on Vancouver Kijiji or you might even be able to buy the used set of headlight assemblies from the guy that rolled his L400 and posted on this forum just last week.
Changing a glass lens on a headlight body can be a bit tricky. You need a heat gun and the correct sealant to remove and replace lenses. Youtube has lots of info on this subject.

Congratulations and welcome!
Since you're on the island, Coombs Country Auto will probably be the easiest place for you to get parts from. They have parts vehicles from time to time and are very helpful.
I don't do 120, ever. They don't like going fast! I stay in the slow lane, keep it at about 105 and relax. Once you start pushing it faster than that you'll notice your milage plummet.
Welcome to the forum!
