The auto shop here tells me it would take 4-5 hours to change the rotors on my Delica.

Last time I went they told me that my brake pads were at 15% left, that I would be good until the next appointment but it didn't turn out that way.

I ordered rotors and brake pads from Japan and do have them here but now I have to find calipers as well.

To change front rotors on an L400 the front hubs and brake assemblies are taken apart completely because the rotor is attached to the center hub from behind with 6 bolts that pass through the hub and thread into the rotor.

FYI: The rotor swap on a Delica is the same as a Toyota 4-Runner 4x4 or a Nissan Xterra 4x4. Have them pull the 'book time' on those other 4x4's and compare...they might be trying to pad the estimate.

Are they doing a bearing repack as well (which might justify the 5 hr estimate)? If they are doing a bearing repack get new axle seals from the JDM parts guys out in BC. Don't let the shop fiddle around trying to find a match (good luck with that!). An old mechanics trick is to re-use the old seals which can get damaged if the tech is sloppy.

Why do you need calipers? Are the pads wearing unevenly? Are the calipers sticking? Calipers don't work very well when the pistons are out very far and the pads are very low.....Your calipers might be okay, they could need some cleaning/lubing of the slider pins.
