Out of Province Inspection and need to vent

So we recently moved from Calgary to Nelson BC
I need to register my 93 Starwagon with BC and ICBC, so I need an out of province inspection done.
Thing is, no mechanic in Nelson will look at my van. Straight up, flat out "Nope, won't work on that van"
I called everyone, and finally talked to Midas, and they said 'sure, we can inspect your van', but then I get a call from the mechanic this morning, and he says "I don't think Delicas are safe, so I will automatically fail your van. I have the right to do that"
I said, "But this is a mechanical inspection, to make sure the van is mechanically sound, it's not about your opinion of RHD vehicles. The van can legally be on the road..." But he didn't care. He said he would still fail the van.
So, I am at a loss. Not sure how to get my van inspected without having to drive hundreds of kms to somewhere that will inspect and work on my van.
Don't really know what to do here, but I needed to vent at the least
Disappointed and frustrated

It is not ehtical nor legal.
You have to call back those narrow minded and record them over the phone so you have an électronique proof on your side; If you complain you will win your cause for sure...
OR go anywhere else in BC...

Maybe call one of these guys. They are closer than the coast. ( I'm not sure if the contact info is current.) If these don't work I can give you 2 other names in Kamloops that would likely do your inspection.
Franco's Auto Service Ltd. - Kamloops (Jay)
www.francosauto.com 1427 Lorne St., 250-374-1923
Right Side Automotive - Lumby (Kelsey) - 1415 Dyffryn Rd. - Diesel/Delica mechanic works almost exclusively on imports, very knowledgeable.

Wow! That's unbelievable.
That doesn't sound like the kind of mechanic I'd want to work on any of my vehicles.
Seriously, if any mechanic is going to make a blanket statement like that about any vehicle just because it's a Delica (or anything else that's different) then in my opinion, he's not much of a mechanic.
Sorry you are having this issue. Hopefully someone close by to you can help you out with a shop that employs a competent mechanic.

Well I was able to get the local Ford dealership to do the inspection, they did so without question and were happy to do it. Was surprised given every other place in Nelson refused me.
The next thing though is to get some parts and work done - need a new windshield and the exhaust done, so if anyone can offer any suggestions, I am all ears. I assume any exhaust shop can help me out, but finding a windshield at a decent price could be a challenge. Nothing I'm not used to though

If your getting your exhaust replaced seeing if you can get it roaced with a larger pipe. I've got an L400 and got a 2.5" side dump exhaust installed for less than a new stock exhaust pipe. Not sure what the L300 exhaust is like though...

Have a look here. Not too terrible a price for a new windshield. My Chevy pickup was much more expensive for an OEM windshield.

Thanks everyone for your feedback
Just completed everything and got my shiny new BC license plates today!!
The Ford dealership of all places inspected my van, no questions asked. They also adjusted one of the wheel bearings.
I took my van to Castlegar muffler and they bent the pipe themselves so I have a nice new exhaust system now.
I bought a new windshield from Mardy @ Amazing Auto Imports, and lucked out getting a rideshare to bring it to Nelson for me (regular shipping would have been hundreds of dollars). Speedy Glass here in Nelson installed the glass for $100.
Although it took a little while and a lot of work on my side, I am glad to have it all done :)

I'm glad it worked out. Now you can drive past those rude mechanics and give a friendly wave.
