Tire change

My current tires are the P-rated 235/75/15 geolanders. My friend has LT30x9.5 tires off his 4runner that I can get for a good deal.

What will the difference in tire size do to the van? How much will they effect my mileage and speedometer?
As i understsnd its a difference of 1" taller and 0.5" wider between my old tires and his. But most importantly I just want to get the proper rated tires on my L400!
The catch is also he only has 4 tires so I wouldn't have a full-size spare if I used his tires. Will the 30" tire vs 235/75 spare strain the drivetrain if I got a flat?
i searched and most of the results returned involved bigger tires, any help in this decision would be greatly appreciated!

Can someone confirm the bigger size will be fine or not? If it will strain the engine or gearing I will find something else!
Thanks

Lots of people run the 30x9.50 tires, no real difference, I believe your actual speed is around 3% faster than the speedo.

ABOUT THE SPARE TIRE SIZE

I tried using a slightly smaller spare before. It was ok in the back country - dirt roads - but nasty on the pavement. I had to drive the highway with wheels in the gravel on the shoulder or the gears in the diff would tighten up till the rubber started to squeal on the one side. Not Fun.
Get the right size spare asap.

im tire shopping now and 265 70 r15 is also a comparable upgrade from 235 75 r15. Its about an inch wider and less than an inch taller.
I would like to go up to 31 10.5 r15 But I dont know yet if that is too big for stock - no lift yet.

Note https://tiresize.com/comparison/ is really helpful in checking differences in tire sizes.

Toyota Rims

I got a set of studded winters 235 75 R15 on TOYOTA rims and they bolted right on. The cool things about this are that I didnt have the cost of having rubber mounted and balanced, the Toyota rims are nicer than my stock rims and they push the rubber out about 2in. because the offset is at least that much different. It looks way better with the wider stance!

One drawback is that the front wheels would rub on the plastic liner/shield in the front of the wheel well.
