Started to make the mold for my custom snorkel. Had some blue styrofoam from an earlier project. Saw this stuff used on a 4-runner project on the IH8MUD forum..

.it was really slick, looks like most other jeep/toyota snorkels and his cost was super cheap! I like cheap!
here's at least a few inspirational pics of an interesting variant from Spain...uber pricey @ over 600 euro's!!!! Kinda hard to justify a $1000.00 CDN for that item.

Here's the start...rough slabs of blue densefoam. This is a 'when I have time' project. Expect slow steady progress as I work the shape.

As for why I am doing this. I want to see if I can do this project justice. If I have enough nerve to.drill into the fender is a whole other realm.

Are you using fiberglass? I like the shape of those pictures you posted, I haven't seen that style of snorkel tip before!

Can't wait to see results!
I like the DIY stainless snorkels I've seen around too.

I'm thinking about taking PVC and heating it up and molding it to shape. With thick gloves on you can really heat it up until it's soft and pliable and shape it, add cold water to set it up more quickly. We'll see how it goes. If I can go ahead with the WRX intercooler I'll be doing the same thing for my piping
