Shops who camperize Delica's

Post by BigBirdy »

My partner and I are looking to buy a 4x4 Delica and to have it camperized. We are both long-time off-roaders familiar with 4x4's and so is there a Delica model which is best suited for camperizing, has the best drive train and suspension or other mechanical features (wheel base etc) which are better than other models?

Also, are there any shops in the lower mainland which do these Delica camper conversions?

Thanks for any suggestions you can provide

I've done several camper conversions but mostly VW Vanagons to Westfalias. It can be an enormous amount of work depending on what you want. You can custom make a poptop for it or a raised roof, but those are big ticket items when done properly. Internally you can come up with pretty much anything you want, although I've personally opted for a VW westfalia fridge stove and sink inside, and a rooftop tent for sleeping in That keeps it pretty simple and I've camped my way into Mexico like that. Anything can be custom made for the interior, but again it's a lot of labour and materials and isn't cheap.
My new novel A Dark and Promised Land has just been released by Dundurn Press. "On the eve of war he is compelled to reclaim her love, setting himself against his people amid a conflict that will form a nation." http://www.darkpromisedland.com/

I like the swb (Short wheel base) l400 diesel.

I don't know if anyone "camperizes" them but it is not hard to remove the rear seats and do it yourself.
We just spent 10 days in ours in Jasper.

The long wheel base gives you more room if you don't mind the extra length when you are 4x4ing.
