Installed remote start - now no overdrive, no "OD Off" light

Over the weekend I installed an Avital 5303L remote starter and alarm in my 1996 L400 Diesel. Lots of work figuring out which wires to connect to, but I got it all installed and was very surprised when the remote starter worked first go!

While poking around I must have shorted something out and blew the 10A fuse in engine bay that powers dash lights. Replaced that fuse, dash lights are now working.

Today I drove the van to work and found that I no longer have overdrive - doing 80km/hr the engine is revving at 3K RPM.

The "OD Off" light is not illuminated, pressing the OD button does not turn on the "OD Off" light or make a difference to RPM.

I have visually checked all fuses under dash and in engine bay and unplugged the remote starter unit from the wiring harness.

The OD switch is OK as tested at the connector in steering column - one position shorts pin 1 to 2, the other position shorts 1 to 3. Have also tried shorting the appropriate pins with a piece of wire.

Tried shorting out the temperature sensor that prevents OD when cold, no difference.

The AT Power and Hold switch still illuminates appropriate lights on dash, and everything else seems to be working ok, just no OD.

I have unplugged the remote starter from the harness, no change.

Someone had run a wire and left it hanging in the transmission controller area, not connected to anything. It ran up inside the dash to the back of the instrument cluster and was connected to a screw on the circuit board between the letter "J" and "SP PULSE". This wire might have shorted out to something when I cut it and left it hanging for a while before pulling it out.

The 3 wires from the OD switch join a much larger loom of wires and I have no idea where they go. If anyone know where exactly they go so I can buzz them out, or if you have any ideas what the problem could be I'd appreciate the advice.

This is fixed now - one of the 3 wires in the loom going to the OD switch was broken on vehicle side of connector.

One wire is +12v - this one was broken.

Other 2 wires are OD On and OD Off.
