Okanagan Area Delica/Japan Import diesel mechanic.

Title says it much easier than I'm about to. ;) Anyone in the Ok area have a favorite mechanic to work on their imported diesel? I know the lower mainland has several competent and experienced mechanics that deal effectively with these diesels and their quirks, but I thus far know of none in the Okanagan Valley. Someone?...Anyone?...?!

Happy 2008 folks.

I'm also quite interested in responses to your question too, as I also live in the Okanagan and plan on getting a Delica in the not too distant future. For my JDM Celica, I bring it to Hilltop Toyota in Salmon Arm (I work in Salmon Arm, so this works out well for me), but I have no idea where to take our future Delica to either...

Just looking for a bit of an update to this thread.

Does anyone have any experience with Okanagan Diesel Injectors in Vernon?

I spoke to someone there who said they've worked on Delicas and their leaky fuel pumps before.

He was going to check the parts required for a pump rebuild and get back to me before I brought it in but I never heard from him again. No response to several emails so I'm not inclined to follow through with them now.

Any positive experiences with any Okanagan service centres out there?

I'm looking for a pump rebuild on a 4M40 and live in the Kootenays. Haven't found any confident techs yet... (sound familiar?)

Thanks,

Mike

The 4M40 engine luckily found its way into some light construction equipment under a very familiar name....Caterpillar.

Specifically a small excavator called the 305CR. What?????Its mitsu powered you say. Why yes it is!

If you can find a Finning or Caterpillar shop they might be able to help you out when you explain what engine you have under the hood and that this motor is also found in the Mini-Excavator. The excavator uses different filters, fuel systems and final drive (hydraulic pump) but the basic premises are the same as are the engines internals.

Getting IP or other engine parts for your Delica is also easy.

Email (in no particular order)
Rising Sun Imports (New Westminster BC)
Amazing Auto (Richmond BC)
Maximum Overdrive (Richmond BC)
Rocky Mountain Imports (Vancouver Island)
Coombs Country Auto (Van.Isl)

Its doubtful that the Finning tech could get the exact parts you need but at least he has a decent chance of success in the BC interior of fixing it!
