Hello from Montana

Hi everyone, excellent site you have here. Really good info, and for that I thank you!
I lived in New Zealand for a little while in 2010, a buddy of mine had an L300 that he drove the mountains every weekend. Needless to say I fell in love with these rigs, and resolved to own one someday. It only became feasible for me in the last year or two and alas one popped up on the ol internets and I went for it. Had to jump though all the importation hoops to get it home from BC, id be glad to share my import story if anyone is interested. Anyway, I made an awesome ski trip out of the whole process. :) and now I have a permanently Montana registered 1990 Super Exceed! Can't wait for more adventures with this thing.
Like others have said here, I have lots of noob questions, but I've been clearing them up with all the great info on the site.
She starts a bit rough in the cold, 0C or less, it takes considerable turning over and choke to get it to hum. And when it does, its not without smoking out the whole neighborhood. The glow relay seems to go for an acceptable amount of time ( 5-15s ). I pulled and checked the resistance on all the glows, they are the stock plugs and all had equal resistance, I wiped them off a bit too there was lots of black crap. Then I cleaned and lubricated all the battery connections and connections on the glow system. It starts right up now, with no smoke. Sadly it has been unseasonably warm here, so until it gets cold again will be the real test.
It's otherwise running great! but I do have some concerns from learning about the 4D56T for the future. i'm at 205000km and it sounds like the cylinder head / head gasket is what i need to keep an eye on. Currently there are no signs of overheat or overpressure in the coolant, so i guess i'll just keep researching on how to prolong having to to the work on that.
I'm looking forward to adding some off road lights (any suggestions) and a custom roof rack / latter.
Thanks everyone
