Hi All,

Newbie owner here of a 94 L400 Super Exceed.

My sliding door will not catch/close when I slide it shut.

I don't hear the motor inside the door working as I did when I bought it this summer. Anyone have any ideas where to start?

Appreciate any direction anyone can give!

Brad

Fuses and relays are the first place to start. Followed closely with a voltage/conductivity check on the contact pads in the door frame. These carry power to the motor mechanism in the door. If they are dirty a pencil eraser can be used to clean the surfaces.

The door itself has spring loaded contact pins and these should be cleaned too.

The door motor can be forced to activate with jumper wires off a battery or a charger. This is a test only and is done with the slider door open. Check the tech section of this forum for polarity info on the contacts so as not to burn out the system.

This is a link to the PDF file you need for the sliding door electrical diagrams.

The contact pad provides power to the closing motor and power lock solenoid only. It does not provide power the dome/cabin lights...this is provided by a switch in the door jam (nearest the rear wheel well).
