As you can see in the picture, the inside edges of both front tires at wearing prematurely. Back tires are just fine. Any obvious symptoms I should look into? Tires are about two and a half years old, frequent dirt road driving, nothing crazy.

I'd say your wheels are out of alignment. If you go to the L400 Dedicated Category Reference Forum you will find the shop manuals and in there you will find this page.

This could be either a camber issue (top in/out position of the tire relative to the body). The control arms have eccentric cams to adjust this.

The other issue could be a Toe-Out problem that makes the tires splay outward too far and this scrubs the tread off the inside...like yours.

Thankfully any shop with the factory alignment spec's from this site can adjust your alignment provided the tie rods, balljoints and bushings are in good shape. I took my specs to Fountain Tire and they had it done that morning. Check with the shop first and ask if they have any aversion to working on RHD JDM's and make a point of telling them you have the alignment specs for the tech to work with.

Thanks guys, this is more or less in line with what I expected.

I have a major service planned for early April, I guess I'll add alignment to my shopping list.

Page 33A4 of the manual might shed light on it. Also, depending where you are in BC, there are garages that know these machines and do alignment.
