The outer cv boot is cracked on the passenger side. How do I know if the joint must be replaced? Or just the boot. What will approximate cost be to replace the boot or the whole joint?

Most times the joint is okay, they usually only need regreasing. The boots crack and break because of age and stress etc.

Examine the CV joint when you remove it for wear, clean it and grease it up well. I've replaced cracked and broken boots on all 3 of my delis but no CV joints yet.. :-D

Princess auto sells narrow metal bands (zap strap) strap replacements.

Search out the part number/price on Megazip or Amayama. If this appears overwhelming order from RMI, Rising Sun, or the other local dealers.

http://www.megazip.net/zapchasti-dlya-a ... ue9-625031

Google the part number and search all the parts locations (ebay, amazon, febest, mega, amayama)

Try febest online. Their prices are the best I've found. Match up the Mitsu part number with the febest number and visually ensure it's the correct part before ordering.

I'm ordering a brake rebuild kit and rear transmission mounts from them, much cheaper :-D :-D than either Amayama and megazip, not sure about shipping costs.

good luck
