What's Happened To Partsbase.org?

Post by FalcoColumbarius »

I was just looking something up so I went to Partsbase.org and wound up on a page that said "The URL "www.partsbase.org" is not valid." Anyone know what's happened?

It seems to have gone away. A google search for "partsbase org" limited to the last month brings up many similar posts. Recently it's been full of dodgy-looking adverts, so I wonder if it's been hacked and/or blacklisted for spreading malware.

It's the only online parts catalogue I've found that shows you the parts diagrams without having to drill down through too much text first. http://mitsubishi.epc-data.com/ doesn't do diagrams at all, http://partsouq.com/en/catalog/mitsubishi has some diagrams, but they're a pain to get to, http://mitsubishi.epcdata.ru/ has all the diagrams but Autotranslate sometimes has issues with the Russian.

Unless the part #'s change, this should be around for a long time.

Well, I went there, clicked on Mitsubishi, clicked on Japan, clicked on Delica Starwagon/Van and got:

"Hrm.

Wayback Machine doesn't have that page archived.
Want to search for all archived pages under http://www.partsbase.org/mitsubishi/ ?"

I took a look through ninety-three pages but didn't see it. I found it in the Russian parts link in Delica FAQ Section, which is basically partsbase but the quality is not as good and you've got to learn Cyrillic but it works.

Drat! Sorry, I should have dug a little deeper. Bummer deal. Google cache still has over a million pages for Mitsu but also can't get that deep. I emailed the domain owner in case they just missed something or maybe need a hand mirroring the site somewhere...

The thing I miss is Partsbase's reverse lookup- put a part number into the search, get a list of all vehicles that used that part. If anyone knows of a site with that functionality I'd be very grateful!

Drat! I didn't even know that. I know you can look up parts numbers at Amayama, which I believe are the ones behind the JDM Online Catalogue (epc-data). Typically, once I have the OEM number, after visiting Amayama, I'll get Google's opinion. Right now I'm looking for rear axle bearings. I can purchase a bearing from Mitsubishi Canada for $70 a piece or get the high end Japanese one from Amayama for $27Cdn. Then there's Dodge/Chrysler and any others that use Mitsubishi parts.

I'm wondering if we should see about correlating all our collective downloaded partsbase images here on DC in the reference libraries.

I found this under L300 Shop Manuals--- looks like partsbase. Seems pretty complete.

I found another supplier and even ordered a small parts package as a test. They seem more expensive than other suppliers BUT they seem to have everything with drawings and Mitsubishi part #'s.

Nice find, Larry. I've loaded it into "Useful Links for Vehicle Part Identification Purposes" in the Delica FAQ Section.
