Has anyone had experience with Split CV boots? Are they worth it?

My inner left boot has torn since we lifted the beast 2". All the other boots look good, no cracks or signs of wear.

I know that the glue seal must be perfect and clean, Definitely willing to spend the extra bit of time on that, if it'll save hours of R&R in the shop.
Going to do the work myself one way or the other.

I bet your drive shaft angle caused that . I haven't used a split boot, had that option, but chose to install a new boot instead. IMHO a new boot is a better choice.
If you have the tools and the time.... Winter may be over, though we just had fresh snow in the local hills.

I did some further research last night and came to the same conclusion. Split boots look way to prone to leaks if they aren't 100% installed and glues the exact right way. Seems way to risky.

I was definitely prepared for the possibility of the boots needing replacement with the lift. This is the only one that started to crack, the rest are still nice and solid. Looks like this is tonights project.

Kurtis. The split boot is a temp fix. Not meant to be long-term. removal of the CV axle is quite simple for the experienced back yard mechanic. you know how to reach me if you want some help.

I did pull the cv Axel, all in about a half hour.
But apparently I got the wrong boot, waiting for the correct one to show up on Tuesday and then back in she goes.

I had to get boots to pass inspection. It's not a cheap fix.

Wasn't bad to do myself, should have only taken about 2 hours. In the end it took 3 hours over 3 days, because I got the wrong boot from Canadian tire and didn't realize until I had the old one off for a side by side. It was slightly to large.

Napa got me the right one.

Cost 22 dollars and some time. They are much easier to do then I expected.
