I was on my way out to the lake today, when I began to smell the singularly awful smell of burning rubber. Pulled off to the side of the road, and there was a little cloud of smoke coming out of my wheel well. after a little investigation, it looks like my driver's side caliper is seized. Does anyone know the corresponding lordco/ local part number for the front calipers? I've read on the forum that fenco is an option, but I have heard that they are no longer in business. I have a 92' delica l300.

This might help but you need to double check, some parts are similar, will fit with added machining (like the brake shoes for the drums).

Also, the OEM number (MB534321) is useful for doing your own cross referencing by taking this number and Googling it and seeing what comes up.

Sounds like you've got it sorted, but just in case it helps anyone with similar problem in future:

A temporary roadside fix for a seized calliper is fairly easy: wedge a screwdriver between the brake pad and brake disc on the outside (piston side), then use it as a lever to push the piston into the calliper as far as it will go. Now move the calliper back and forth on the sliding pins to free them up and redistribute whatever grease is left inside. Once it's sliding on the pins again, pump the brake pedal to push the piston back out, and the problem should be resolved.

You'll still need to rebuild or replace your calliper and sliding pins, as the same damage that causes sticking tends to damage the piston seals and sliding rubber bushes, but it should get you home.

Using that part number, I was able to track down a Raybestos set of calipers which are a direct matchup. Now I just have to go down to Lordco on a day that isnt a national holiday

Hey man, check the Lordco on Burnside (if you're actually in Vic). They have a list of parts for L300/400 since the store manager drives one! RMI can get them on a quick turn around ($90'ish) but they want your core first. A bit inconvenient if it's your DD. I'll be calling Lordco myself tomorrow. :)

Right hand caliper Part # AC Delco 18FR405. Picked it up in stock from Lordco. Installed in about 15 minutes. $110.99 + $30 core. (cheaper with account).

I am having this same problem, although the caliper is not completely seized yet...

What about bleeding the hydraulic system following replacement? Did you do that right away? Did you do it yourself?
