injection pump swap... timing specification?

I'm swapping my IP over here as the one I was running seems to have stopped working.

A little nervous though. I'm just not sure i'm going to be able to get the pump installed with the correct rotation in order to have the correct timing specification. Haven't been able to find any threads about this on the forum. Was hoping somebody out there might put my mind at ease with some solid info.

Just watched this video. More or less what I need to know?

That is a brilliant video. Combine it with the workshop manuals (http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewforum.php?f=17) and you should be able to get your timing spot-on.

That said, I don't bother ;-) I set mine to the middle of the range, and then advance it until it makes enough power while the rattle at idle isn't too terrifying, and EGTs aren't too high. If fully retarded is 0, halfway is 0.5, and fully advanced is 1, then mine ends up at about 0.7. It hasn't exploded. Yet. 4D56s are surprisingly forgiving of injection timing.

Oh my god. How did I forget to look there! Erg. Turns out my rattly jig to hold the dial caliper was a bit of a bugger... Soooo who knows where my timing is at. Runs good tho. Little extra black smoke under heavy load.

By the way i was aiming for 1mm at 7 ATDC. I think i got pretty close. Close ish i guess. Just got back from a town trip. Blows a bit more than a comfortable level of black smoke when travelling up hill. Bordering on embarrassing.
