Squeaking/chirping

So after searching the forums, I realize a chirping/squeaking could be any of the following:

water pump bearing failing
alternator bearing failing
power steering pump failing
crank shaft pulley failing
belts slipping

When it's cold it "screams" for a minute while warming up, then after that it just chirps. Sounds like a belt to me. Um... Mechanical newb here. Where/how would I find the belt/tensioner to try to tighten them up? Pictures? Halp?

That'll be your alternator belts. When you first start the van the battery is low (from running the glow plugs and cranking the engine), so the alternator tries to make as much power as possible- putting more load on the belts.

Tightening the belts is a pain. There's a how-to in the Technical Reference Library here: http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 25#p132525

Don't over tighten the belts- your water pump bearing will fail. If they're correctly tensioned and still squeak, fit new belts. Buy a pair of belts from the same batch. If one belt is older, or slightly different composition, or slightly longer, it will wear faster than the other one and you'll end up with squeaking again.

Also, when replacing the belts look at the grooves inside the pulleys to make sure there isn't a worn out or you'll have to replace them as well!!
