Aftermarket Turbo Options

Post by Trinker »

Hey guys, I'm looking into buying an aftermarket turbo to replace my old one, which is lacking. With new injectors, a re-built injector pump and a fresh tune she is still blowing smoke under load going up hills or pushing the pedal to the floor accelerating. This in combination with some not so good turbo sounds at idle and the intake side of the turbo being nice and shiny with oil makes me think it time for a replacement. Does anyone have any experience with the turbos sold by Rocky Mountain Imports or Coombs Auto? Or maybe recommend one from ebay or elsewhere online? Any input or advice would be much appreciated, thanks guys!

I made a post about custom turbo options, it's in the Technical Reference Library now: http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewforum.php?f=102

I'm dubious about the quality of aftermarket turbos and prefer genuine Mitsubishi, but I have no evidence to support my opinion.
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Hey thanks for the reply. I've done some research and came by your post, which is an awesome resource. However, even that was a bit technical for myself. Just wondering what other peoples experiences are with the aftermarket turbos available here in BC from the regular suppliers. Anybody out the have some insight and recommendations? Cheers, and PS, GrowlerbeanNZ, the amount of knowledge and info you pour into this site is incredible, really appreciate you hardcore tech guys input and commitent to the site.
