Went a little overboard on the awning. This is a 10'1" awning, projects 8'2". I used the brackets KIT VW T3. Worked good, just had to modify the small Z shaped bracket into a longer L shaped bracket. Waiting on some nutserts so I can wall mount it to the Delica. And it will eventually have lights. I'll post better pics one of these days.

That's nice. I like it! Where did you find that awning?

If you have the time you could make one and save some dough. I made this. Not as nice as store bought but comes out pretty descent.

Hey LDiz, curious how you like your awning and how the KIT VW T3 gutter brackets are working out? Assuming no interference with the sliding door? Do they come padded to protect the paint? Or did you end up drilling into the body of the van? If you have any close photos of the bracket that would be great. I'm looking at the 8' length and debating between mounting it to my roof rack or to the gutters.
Cheers,
Jessey

Roof rack is the way to go. I had no other choice because of my pop top. The inner brackets are modified, the ones that go in the gutter (i think they were s shaped and now they're L shaped). Everything has like a rubber sleeve to protect the paint. The outside brackets are not modified, but I was still getting a little movement so I added nutserts to the bottom of those outside brackets. I also moved the back bracket to the far back, behind the rear window. It's been rock solid for nearly 2 years.
I also added the fiama body mount attachments so the support posts now connect right to the van (vs. to the ground), which is much more stable and better on not flat grounds. Scary because you have to drill into body, but looks great. I would drill, put some sort of paint inside the drilled hole, then lots of silicone before the nutsert is put in. No signs of rust.
I'll see if I can't get a couple pics this week.

Thanks for the quick response and info. Yeah I'm leaning more towards the roof rack option just to keep it easier I think. Nice pop top! Thanks again!
