Rear ladder mystery solved

I bought a ladder from Japan a couple of years ago but it just came with bolt ends for the top and nothing for the bottom.
The ladder looks just like this one, I think it was installed by Mitsubishi dealerships because it is in the L400 1994 brochure.

I thought -- there must be pieces missing... looked and looked, finally found a picture in Japan... the ladder is just bolted directly to the door!
They drill holes through the door to attach it.
