Wastegate Acutator Broken - 5 PSI of Boost Max

I just installed a boost gauge and was hitting 5 psi max. I checked the wastegate and the actuator had it stuck open. I then wired the wastegate shut and was hitting plenty of boost. So now I have to fix the actuator.

1. Should I be able to push and pull the rod by hand? (I can't)

2. If yes, then I assume mine is effed. Is it a serviceable part or do I have to source a new one.

I believe I have a non adjustable actuator.

PS Really glad I got that boost gauge as I would have continued thinking that the delica was supposed to be that slow.

You should be able to pull the rod by hand, but only just. The spring holding the wastegate closed (rod up) is usually very strong.

It's not a serviceable part. Take care when buying another, as some other 4D56 engines had the wastegate down low, and the rod is a different length. Some wastegate actuators don't have an adjustable rod either, which is a bit of a pain.

UPDATE:

I double checked that I could pull on the actuator rod and it did have some give, so I decided to see if I could adjust the actuator (non adjustable type).

Took it off the vehicle and used a few vice grips to bend top bend back a bit more and then bend the 2nd bend back so it would straighten out. Had to do this twice to get it so the the mounting hole to the wastegate lever was about a few mm short. I had to pull the rod down in order to get it on the wastegate lever.

Took it for a test drive and I surprisingly was maxing out at 12psi on the first go. Good enough for me!!

What a difference!!
