where is the serial number marked on a delica? We've had some trouble in Mexico with customs officials because we don't know where to find the numbers!

There should be a lift-up "flap" cut out of the carpet directly in front of the driver seat. Its near the releases to access the engine compartment. Original VIN number is located under this flap...
(I'm going on memory here, as I still don't have my "next" delica!)
When your van was imported, there was probably also a Canadian-issued VIN added to your van. These are usually added in the driver's side door frame (look for a riveted-on plate).

As the general consensus appears to be that I do not know what I'm talking about, and cause more harm than good, I am removing this post so that others are not tricked in to following my ill-advised instructions.

So no need to pay the $24 for the VIN application fee on freshly imported JDM?

nope, they just need to do an "override" in the computer to allow it to accept the shorter VIN. however ICBC will insist on seeing TWO VIN locations on the vehicle (on the delica that's easy)

Thanks Green1, you just saved me $24... which was added in the price break-down for the import on my Deli.
Great!

Thanks, Green,
This will be a great help. Some day I will write up the three-day comedy (if you can take it that way) that resulted from this lack of knowledge.
You sure get a lot of smoke out of a deli at 12,000 feet in 4WD in sand on a 14% grade!
