Hello folks. I'm a prospective Delica owner in the States, very close to pulling the trigger on importing an L300 auto. I have a question about driving up hills and keeping the rpm's high, or at the right place. I understand that while driving a Deli up a good size hill with a 5 speed it's best for the driver to put it into 2nd gear to keep the revs high, but what about if you're driving an automatic? Does the engine sort of do that on it's own? Does the driver need to feather the gas pedal a bit to find the right spot? Please, educate me

Mostly the gearbox will choose the best gear itself. "Automatically", you could say. If it's having trouble deciding (shifting up and down too often) or you just feel more revs would be better, you can push the "overdrive" switch on the selector which disables 4th gear and forces the gearbox to use 3rd.

Hey I really appreciate the response Growlerbearnz. That makes perfect sense.

That's what I do. Take it off overdrive and the let your rpm's dictate your speed.
Slow and steady.
