Different lengths of Delica?

I've seen mention of SWB and LWB Delica versions, but none of the places selling them mention it? Does it not apply to the L300?

Similar thing with the limited slip differential on the rear, only seen a single one listed as having it; is it really that rare, or do sellers not know...?

All, L300 (Starwagons) are the same length. There are a few Delicas with LSD but from what I can tell they are rare. For those who can tell by using the VIN please let me know. Otherwise, do a burn out in snow and look at the tacks. From what I see there are different takes on the LSD look here: http://www.delica.ca/forum/lsd-1795.html

Have a good day all,

All L300 Delica's sold in Japan were SWB models.

Some European countries got LWB 4x4 L300's but in van rather than people carrier format.

2WD vans are available in either LWB or SWB form in both LHD & RHD countries.

I hope that makes sense??

As for the LSD - I think a lot of the time the seller is unaware of it being fitted. Of all the L300's I know of here in the UK (that's quite a few) probably about 25% have LSD. There is no easy way to tell (visually) because the sticker that should be on the diff to signify its an LSD is very rarely still there. One of my L300's has an LSD - but no sticker or other visual indication of having it fitted. The VIN plate does not carry this info either.

The best and most conclusive way to tell is to jack the vehicle up so that both rear wheels are off the ground. Make sure the brake is off and the gearbox in neutral. Turn one wheel and watch the other one.

If you have an LSD fitted, both wheels will turn in the same direction. If you have an open (normal) diff then the wheels will turn in opposite directions.

not directly, but with the model number from the vin plate you can look it up... I'm at work now so don't have the link to the site, but I've posted it on this site a few times.

Great info, thanks! Would there be a diagram like that showing interior dimensions, by any chance?

interior lengths are on that one... (SWB is 1555+745 for a total of 2300mm = 7'5" (that's behind the engine hump, you can get up to about 8'4 on top of the engine hump (which is the same level as the seats if they are folded flat)) (SWB is also the model you are most likely to actually find))

width is just over 4' (narrower at the top, wider at the bottom, but you end up almost to the roof before it gets narrower than 4')
height is... I'm not sure... I'm going to say somewhere about 5' tall inside from floor to ceiling

No diagram, just a few dimensions from the Mitsubishi leaflet.....

max floor length: SWB 2,34m LWB 2,74m
max width : 1,53m ( between the wheelarches 1,06m )
max height : low roof 1,26m , high roof 1,36m

Willingdon/Canada Way @ 1:30pm.

Pretty darn long !
