Would love to have feedback from members on their thoughts of selling my 2003 Honda Element 130,000kms for a 1992 Super Exceed with 100,000kms? Your comments are appreciated thank you.

Great to see you in the forum!

Definitely should go for the Delica. Has plenty of headroom for tall folk such as yourself (mind you so does the Honda).

Good luck with the Delica acquisition process -- hope all goes well!

Cheers,
Mark

hi, honda element cannot go off road, cannot handle 3 or 4 ft of snow & creek. inside hondaelement is too small, while delcia has lots of room & unique looking Van.
a sharp looking mini-van
good luck for looking delica. hope you got the best & well service delica

I think interior space would be a big difference. The other day I put nearly a dozen 2"X8" boards, 14' in length, and they only hung out the rear about 3 feet. And that was without removing any of the seats (only folding them flat). And then there was this other time we had five sheets of drywall in there, shutting the door to drive away.

Another reason we bought the vehicle is that it will seat 7 comfortably. I don't think the Element will seat that many.

I just took home 14 sheets of 1/2 inch drywall yesterday. No problem. Thats quite a bit of weight, and it can probably handle quite a bit more. These vans fit 4'X8' plywood or drywall easily through the liftgate with all seats folded flat. You do have to rest them on the back of the engine hump so the liftgate will close thought. I also hauled home 8 bails of fiberglass insulation batts in the back with the liftgate closed. Not sure about an Element, but I doubt it has nearly that much room, and will bet it won't handle anywhere near the weight that a Delica can carry.

14 sheets of drywall!!! Holy cow!!!!! That's almost 800lbs!

Wouldn't want to go over too big of bumps with all that in there. What is the load rating for these anyway? I'm sure the GVW is listed there in the door trim, but my Japanese is poor. Okay, my Japanese is crap.

considering the flat-packed kitchen cupboards I hauled for a friend (which probably weren't any lighter, and were stacked floor to ceiling filling the whole back of the vehicle)
I'd say that these vehicles handle extra weight very well...
That said, someone quoted the GVW as somewhere around 2400kg I think, which seems really low to me (considering that with 6 people and no gear I weighed the vehicle at 2450kg and I would not have considered it anywhere near "full")

Thanks everyone for your input. I now officially own a 92' Super Exceed from Japanoid; drove it back to North Van this evening.
First thing that I have to say, is that David and Shogo from Japanoid are some of the best. I have dealt with BMW and Honda over the years, and there is no comparison to the service of these two gentlemen. Thank you both!
First road trip to Whistler tomorrow night; will try to have pictures for all sooner or later.

Cheers,

Joe

Hey Joe,
Welcome. Am also in Nvan and though I bought my Deli in summer 2007 privately - the original Canadian owner had purchased through japanoid and had all service done there with only the best comments. I've since has some minor parts / work done by them and very pleased with the service. I've also had great support from Mardy here on this site, as well as Richard and Nathan at RJD services in Nvan. RJD will do fine for local fluid / belt changes and that type of thing - but if you need something more detailed or diesel related, then I recommend talking to Mardy or Japanoid for that type of work. Wishing you all the best with your Deli.
