Hi all! I' ve gleaned lots of info from this site, havent contributed much but am now asking for some/any input from the automatic transmission guru's on here.
Long story short- have enjoyed my L300 for 85000 kms so far.
Replaced trans with low- mileage unit last fall (Nov2017) Amazing marty did the swap for me. Original trans lost all gears and was burnt up.
Used one was seemingly flawless until 2 weekends ago. Sunpeaks ski trip and on way home got 1/2 from home and after a bit of a harder than normal shift when leaving a light the engine revved up and the van would not move, inany gear. 1/2 hour of sitting it moved then would not. $170 tow home and when starting here it does thesame thing. Move a few feet and then not.
All linkages seems fine, fluid is clean , good level and no burnt smell. I plan to drop the pan and check if the filter screen is pulgging ip. Other than that, ould this box be toast and I have a parts van for sale? Could the torque converter be pooched? I'm hoping its something simple especially since the fluid seems fine and I completely trust Marty's install/swap.
Anybody have any other ideas to throw at the fan to see if they stick and fix my problem??I love this van and it's been so awesome...

Eeek. It could be a number of things, but nothing I can think of is easy to fix. (Well, except for low fluid level- you've checked for leaks, and you're checking the fluid level with the engine running and the transmission in Park, right?)

Does it move in any gear (including the manual 2 and L positions?) If it moves in the manual positions it could be a clogged filter screen (unlikely) or debris/malfunction in the valve body.

That it sometimes moves suggests the pump is ok- pumps tend to fail and stay failed. A broken stator clutch in the torque converter might engage sometimes, so that might be it. Replacing the torque converter is relatively easy and cheap.

I'd definitely pull the oil pan and look for any debris. If it's full of metal chinks and slurry it's dead, but if it's clean it shouldn't be too bad a fix, though you'll need to have the problem diagnosed at an auto transmission shop.

Checked fluid in park - yes
Pulls strong against the park brake in all gears(d,2,1 and r) for a few feet then no more
Like I said, i plan to drain and drop the pan and see from there...it just boggles me since we had highway driven it for 4 days and all shifting was perfect, no problems or hiccups at all, then out of no-where under no real load, it acts up.
Well, my fingers are crossed for when I drain and drop the atf pan.
I'll update what I find, should be in a few days!

So I just wanted to update this trans issue that I posted about earlier...I poured a Guiness and am happy to say all is well with Adele , my van...I let her sit and think about why she was so upset from the long road trip but after dropping her pan, cleaning the atf screen and putting in new fluid she perked right up and is back amd running and shifting beautifully again!! I guess the long drive really cleaned out some gunk because the screen was somewhat plugged which is what I think was causing the no movement in any gear...gunna run it for a week and do another fluid change to keep her happy! That's good to hear! Another fluid change sounds like a good idea, it must have had a bunch of crud hidden somewhere inside.
