Transmission shifting issue?

Hello,

The head on my 2.5l diesel delica cracked last fall.. following tojos head replacement forum i went a did it myself. Everything seemed to be going well on the disassembly and reassembly. I now have it back together and have a couple issues.. I am noticing a slight vibration on cold start(more than seems usual but not excessive.) Im thinking i could be out a tooth on timing? My transmission also seems to be having a hard time shifting.. Ive checked and topped trans fluid but not sure what else to check. I did have to unscrew the nut on the turbo waste gate arm to get it back together when i was reassembling. I am wondering if that could be part of the problem or if there are any other things i should look at. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

Check the transmission kickdown cable adjustment: http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=17662

Timing belt alignment is fairly easy to check, you only need to remove the top timing belt cover: http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=94&t=17654

Balance belt alignment is a bit trickier, but I wouldn't expect balance shaft misalignment to show up at idle, it would be more noticeable at higher revs, and all the time (not just when cold).

Do you still have the EGR connected? Could it be plumbed directly to vacuum and therefore always open (rather than through the electrical vacuum valve that only turns it on sometimes)? Try disconnecting the EGR, plugging the hose, and see if that helps.

The wastegate doesn't do anything at low revs, so I think you can leave that one till later. (You'll need to install a boost gauge, either permanently or temporarily, and confirm that you're getting about 11psi.)
