So I installed, or clipped on, a magnetic oil pan heater. I must say, when it drops around -20 it doesn't work to save its life.

I went to get a circulating coolant heater installed in the rad hose but apparently there is a problem with a valve? It would normally be installed in the lower hose, but after mine was installed this "valve" wouldnt allow the warmer coolant to circulate like it should, making it basicaly usless. So as of now I still only have the magnetic oil pan heater. Good thing it usually hovers around -5 or -10 here. Any insight or suggestions would be appretiated. Has anyone installed a block heater where the frost plug goes? If so does it fit proper? What part numbers?

I installed the stick on type oil pan heater. It got my van started at -26. Got it at canadian tire for $120. I also bought new batteries as mine were the originals from mitsubishi with japanese writing on them.

haven't had to use it below 30 below because it just hasn't gotten that cold. But from my point of view it really does work.

That stick on one is a plug in? You have two batteries or one? I only have one, and it doesn't look like two would fit in mine. How long did it have to crank over to start in -26? Thanks

Hey Adrock... you got a canadian tire part # on that stick heat pad (polar pad?).. Maybe on your reciept? I cant find one at any canadian tire stores (and if you ever try to order anything there it's useless).

that is the best I can do. Although I called and just asked for one of the stick on polar pad oil pan heaters and was told they had them before I went in. Maybe I am just in a colder climate and therefor the store carries them whereas other stores may have to order it.

I could drag one home from here if you really can't find one. But if you live in Burnaby and aren't out of the area too much I don't know if its necessary
