I'd think any locksmith worth his salt would be able to duplicate one.

Thats the kicker. Don’t have a key. Do I have to replace ignition or can Mitsubishi make one from serial number etc.?

Well, that’s a conundrum. I think I’d talk to a locksmith anyway....

I don't believe the NA Mitsubishi would be able to cut you a key. From my understanding they don't talk to there overseas partiners. If you managed to contact the Japanese Mitsubishi offices they might be able to help you out.

I would try a local locksmith first though. :-)

Evan at Delica Works International (https://www.facebook.com/groups/delicaworks/) can send you a complete new lock set (Ignition lock plus 5x door locks) for about US$150. I recently fitted one and the quality is great. Comes with two keys. The brand is Yau Young.

You might have to slightly modify the ignition lock though- where the electrical switch part attaches there is a metal tag which matches a notch in the plastic switch part, so it can only be installed in the correct orientation. The metal tag was in the wrong place on my lock set, so I just ground it off. The switch itself has a single retaining screw that performed the same function.

That's a photo I ganked from an Ebay seller, it's the Aussie 20C coin (you know the one, you've seen dozens of them I'm sure) for size reference. Apparently in Australia everyone measures things in "coins" and rulers haven't been invented. ;-)
