Hello everyone!

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Delica Chamonix edition with swivelling middle row seating. I took the rear seats out last weekend.

I had plans to build a storage platform at the rear of the van, and a wooden bed frame to extend from the platform and connect with the 180 degree rotating middle seat row for support.

I'm an idiot and hadn't considered that the bed rungs would run vertical and offer significantly less support than the couch style slide out bed style seen here: https://i.imgur.com/GdfCe32.jpg

It's totally possible! I built one for myself that has a slide out section for each seat. Giving me a little more room in the morning. However it did end up quite high and I still haven't bothered to figure out how to drop it down in hight and still support it on the seats.

Re: difficulty using the chairs as support - Looks like your chairs individually swivel and then the seats pop up automatically? I'm planning on swivelling mine around and then building a structure to connect the frame to the seat.

Yes, mine are the captain's chairs so I turn each one around, pull the bed out, then flip up the bottom seat of the chair to support the bed frame.

In about 10- 15 minutes I can go from a 4 seater van to a 2 person sleeper.
