Starbo remote starter?

Hello all,

I've just figured out that the odd looking antenna thingy stuck to my dashboard is a receiver for a Starbo remote car starter. I don't have the remote control for it.

I wouldn't have taken a big interest in it, except that the red LED on the unit recently came on for the first time, and it's staying on. I'm curious as to why this might be. Anyone have one of these things?

Possibly related, though I can't see how, is that the Delica recently sat for three weeks in 0 - 5 degree weather, and then wouldn't start. Needed a boost. The red light was on both before and after I boosted it.

I.

the light is probably a status of the system, draining the battery most likely reset it to defaults, don't know if there's an alarm attached to it, but that solid indicator is the way my alarm used to indicate "valet" mode.

Thank you for that,

I know nothing about car-starters... what is valet mode? And do you think that light staying on all the time will be a significant drain on the battery? Can't imagine it would be, but I'm not sure.

valet mode is an alarm term, it means that the alarm is disabled (you put it in this mode when giving the key, but not the alarm fob to a valet or mechanic)

as for battery drain, most likely the drain of the single LED will be so low as to be practically unmeasurable. however depending on what it actually signifies, the whole system could be using either more or less power than before.

unfortunately, without knowing anything about the particular system that was installed, it's pretty much impossible to guess what's actually happening, however if it's not interfering with your operation of the vehicle any, than I'm inclined not to worry about it too much.
