So my van has one of those finicky shifter switches, where once out of maybe 40-50 times I have to re-adjust the shifter a bit in order to be able to crank the starter.
Looking at the picture of the stolen, burnt out Deli in the General section, it got me to thinking:

It seems like it might be an inexpensive way to render the van immobile by adding a manual on/off for the shifter switch.
Put it in a secret location and VOILA! van will stay put.

that in conjunction with something as simple as one of those quick + disconnects Canadian Tire carries would be enough to make sure our vans are still there in the mornings, unless a persistent thief has a whole night to tinker with them.
easy? not so easy? anybody tried?

Good idea--I was thinking that would be an easy circuit to cut into as well. That in addition to the fuel shutoff I'm planning (see my post on "bummer" again) should do the trick. Can't overdo it---"Once burned twice shy." they say. Ooh bad pun

If you put too many cut-out switches into your vehicle, you're going to have to have a checklist before you can taxi out of the driveway:


"Pilot to bombardier, pilot to bombardier. Let's run it by the numbers."

"Fuel pump" - "Check"

"Transmission engaged for primary start" - "Check"

"Brake release" - "Check"

"Ignition" - "Check"

"Let's make sure those seat backs are fully upright in the passenger section"

"Prepare to start... START"

"Bring up the throttle... easy... watch your gauges."

Jeez guys, give the poor thieves a break. Between this thread and 'Bummer' we've now got three possible circuits to use. How's the poor thief going to know what's up? Actually I'm trying to decide which one to use. I still like the idea of stopping the fuel flow if I only knew where to interrupt the circuit.

I guess that's what I get for assuming the club would have been the obvious part of the checklist.
