Hey guys (and more specifically Mark ) have you thought about having a club events photos section within the 'club events' area?

Once a meet is over, it is nice to have a dedicated section to post up photos and reviews, rather than having it tagged onto the bottom of the meet details. This is something the UK site added a few years back and it is great for people to browse photos of club events rather than having to search the last pages of the 'meet' topic (if that makes sense??)

You don't need one for each area, just a single section for anyone to add their photos.

Great thought Bruce, and one that has been kicked around numerous times in the past.

A related thought for photos that had been proposed was to integrate this board with PHPBBGarage -- This would be a good way to include details regarding member van modifications, etc. However, the structure of PHPBBGarage is does not seem to be well-suited for posting meet-photos, etc. Also, the present version compatible with PHPBB3 (the forum software powering this board) is still in Beta.

Coppermine Photo Gallerymight be a preferable platform for meet photos. It claims to offer “ntegration of user management with various bbs (like phpBB, YaBB SE, SMF, Invisionboard, vbulletin)”, however I’ll have to spend some time figuring out how to do this.

Another events-related feature I’m planning to include is a Club Calendar, which will be a good way to become aware of Delica-related events and gatherings.

I’m thinking that this ought to be included in the header bar, so it would now show:
“View unanswered posts | View active topics | Club Calendar”

Perhaps, once a particular event moves from the “future” to the “past period”, the calendar’s URL link for that event could be moved to the appropriate link in the Coppermine Photo Gallery – this way the calendar could serve as the portal for both upcoming events, and past event photos…

I was thinking of something a little simpler like a section within the 'Meet' area or 'Delica Stories & Photos' area called "Club Events Photos" so that once an even has passed, people can post up pictures of the meet in that section.

Take a look HERE for how they do it on the UK forum. Nothing more complex than this.....yet anyone looking to view photos of club get-togethers can go straight to this section rather than searching through the original meet threads trying to find the pics?

A bit like we have a section for 'Members Rides' and one for 'Trips and Photos' there could be a 'Club Meet Photos' section just as easily.

I also think the garage is a good idea, but I know from experience that the 'Members Rides' area will always be more viewed because it is integral to the forum rather than an 'add on' that is linked to.

Hope you don't mind me suggesting this? It's just that I know how well it works over here....

I've now installed Coppermine Photo Gallery (STILL AT BETA TESTING STAGE), which should allow forum members to create their own photo albums. The system should be fully integrated with this bulletin board (i.e., logging in to this forum should enable you to create a User Album and post photos).

Great addition Mark and I see a nice Delica in there already!

What is the maximuim size allowable for pictures? I receive a error message that 'the height and or width of the uploaded picture is more than that allowed by the gallery'. The picture was about 700KB in file size (1024KB max). The FAQ states it's up to Mr administrator.

I'm still learning some of Coppermine's features -- in the interim, thanks for your patience and for letting me know about these "bugs".

"Max Height/Max Width" of uploaded photos was set at 2048px -- I've now modified this setting to 4096px (only other constraint seems to be "Max Upload File Size" at 1024kb.

Hopefully doubling the allowable image dimension helps (if not, let me know and I'll poke around in the settings some more!)

Kevin -- I think the photo dimensions have to be kept at a reasonable size (e.g., 1024px). Otherwise the full-sized images tend to exceed the dimensions of the page (e.g., try clicking on the image from this page: http://www.delica.ca/Photos/displayimag ... at=0&pos=1). I'll restore the max to 2048px for now...

I also found (& activated) an option that allows for an auto-risize of any photos that are larger than the 2048px max.

Indeed - 1024px is maximum (although Coppermine is now setup to downsize larger images, so image dimension should no longer be a constraint).

I've done some more "skinning" to the Photo Gallery to make it look consistent with this forum.
