Fuel pump leak questions

What are the obvious tell tale symptoms of fuel pump leak. If the van sits for more than a day, even when plugged in it seems to have trouble catching. It seems logical that there may be a pressure leak in the furl system. How can I isolate this. There is no visible leaking of diesel, however I do have a coolant leak, which I have to top up at least once a week. The van starts noticebly better when the coolant is full, maybe because the block heater is more effective on a full system?? Can anyone help to isolate this quirky issue?? thanks

This could be a whole heap of issues!
Glow plugs/bus bar/glow plug relays can often be the cause of poor starting.
You may have air in the fuel line, or too much moisture in the fuel filter or maybe even an old, clogged fuel filter.
If the oil or air filter haven't been changed in a long time then these can cause diffcult starting (but maybe not that difficult!)
I would start by changing the fuel filter (unless it was changed recently) then priming the system and seeing how you get on. Next time you go to start it (next day) if it is still difficult, try pumping the filter primer a few times before cranking the engine. If this makes a difference, then it is the fuel pipes/pump etc...
Do you know how to check glow plugs? If you do, check all four and while you're at it, change the bus bar (not expensive) and see if that makes a difference.
I could go on into more detail but try those things first and let us know what you find out?

Hey thanks for the tips. My deli only has 40,000 kms on it, so I presume the glow plugs are decent. I'm not sure how to test them or the bus bar( is that the flat piece of metal linking all of them?) I tried priming the fuel filter, I'm not sure that it helped. Now my van is warm, but tomorrow, I'll try that again. Just pumping the nob on top of filter housing?? How would you isolate the leak if there was one?? thanks for advice
