Tinting & more...

Hey folks just wanted to share with you the killer limo tint I just had done, with warranty. I had all 5 rear windows done in about 2hrs for a sweet $225 no tax. The dude's name is Paul and his shop is called PH Solar Window Service, 1045 Kingsway Vancouver, 604-649-5669. I told him there's probably quite a few Delica owners that want the same job, and he said great send them over.
Also I can't remember who it was that posted the thread about using a heat gun on the front bull bar plastic once it has gone all grey but....WOW!!! I just did it the other day, took about 20 min. and now it looks like brand new. At first I was a little worried about really melting it and doing irrepairable damage but once I got it started, I just took my time and made it all match. The white lettering seems to be made of a different material altogether, so it's not affected by the heat whatsoever. Thanx again for the "hot" tip. Sean:-D
Check out the pics:

The tinting in the Moon Machine wasn't nearly as dark as what you've had put in, but we did find that it was too dark to use the mirror on the rear gate. Once we took the tinting off, holy Mackinaw! we could see things with the backup mirror. Like the trailer hitch. We left the tinting on the side windows though, as it does cool down the inside of the vehicle on a sunny day.
Regardless, the dark tint on your ride looks wicked. I like the silver coloring as well.

I have a super dark tint on my rear window and like mararmeisto, I was having a hard time seeing what was behind me (I actually backed into a full sized truck

) What I ended up doing was cutting a square out of the rear window tint so I could see the reverse mirror. Works like a charm!
Now I'm installing a rearview camera in the rear hatch just above the "delica" reflector (I'm using a hardwired system, not one of those el cheapo wireless kits), as I find that the van's height tends to block the view of what directly behind you. I'll post pics when I'm done.
Cheers,
John

I was toying with the idea of cutting a little hole for the mirror, I think I'll do that.
Thanx Delica 304.

The camera system I bought has a monitor that installs over the rearview mirror. Instead of going into a long winded description, here is the same item I bought (same ebay seller too, I'd recommend him, fast shipper)
I spent several hours comparing the different camera/ monitor systems, this one seemed to have the best bang for the buck.

I want darker tinting and I'm thinking of doing it myself as the windows look fairly easy to remove, has anyone removed the old stuff ?how?and how did you protect the rear window defog lines?
thanks

Just find the edge and pull... gently... and it should come off in strips. If you do manage to break the defrost lines, there is a product which is painted-on with a little applicator brush to reconnect the lines.

(this is gonna sound strange coming from a bald guy)
Use a hair dryer to warm up the old tint and it will peel off easy peasy!

I'm...almost...done...(curses to me for being a perfectionist! I decided to build a switchbox to control the camera (more like micromanage!) I should be done by early next week)
