Cost of fuel

Since when has diesel been more expensive than gasoline? Been enjoying pretty good rates via the cardlock, but that's creeping up too. Now, I know there's been some additional tax added, but it was a buck 30 at Supersave here in Victoria today. Geesh. I wasn't worried about fuel economy with these vans because I figured my savings would be had via cheaper per litre costs. Now I'm rethinking. I better start eating more fries at home.

Huh, out there, too?

It jumped above the cost of gasoline out here a couple of months ago. It's now $1.32/l here ($1.18/l for gas).

It's really convincing me to hang on to my little Jetta to use for commuting! at 6l/100km, the extra $0.14/l doesn't hurt as much, and with the amount of driving I do, the savings by driving the Jetta make up for how much I pay insuring a second vehicle.

I think it was Ruminante who posted some links about the Shell fuel economy challenge - I think I'll check out those links, it's time I start paying even more attention to my driving habits.

I've heard that the cost of diesel is so high right now because of the greater demand for heating oil back east this winter. Apparently we should see it fall below the price of gas as things get warmer. Personally I don't mind so much, it make me feel like I'm saving even more money with out having to do anything. The higher the cost of diesel, the faster I pay off the new WVO shed :-)
