Hello from the UK

Hello all

Just to say hi and introduce myself.

First I'll explain the user name, a friend of mine decided one day at work that I reminded him of Drooper from the bannana splits on account of the fact that I nearly always have sunglasses on due to having eyes that are sensitive to bright light.

Thats that now on to me,

I have been a member of MDOCUK for a while now and when I do searches for all things Delica I keep stumbling upon this site. Never intending on getting on a plane and actually traveling abroad I figured it would be nice to talk to people from a different country, and as my partner is part canadian this seemed like good place to start, especially people with simular interests to me.

I have had my Deli since November and as the sig says she is a SWB L400 exceed with high roof but without any glass in the roof, not even a sunroof. Didnt want it cause i figure that a solid steel roof is less likely to break all over my head!! :-D

Oh and thanks for having me!

Welcome to the site, Drooper ~ I used to love watching that show!

The Space Gear hasn't come out in Canada as of yet, we all drive L-300s ~ mine is a '92 Chamonix.

Hands across the water,

Falco.

Welcome Drooper. I don't know if there's any other members on this site who own an L-400. I could be wrong though, I was wrong once before.

Welcome Drooper!

You are showing your age even remembering Banana Splits... ahhh, the good ol' days...

Spent a bit of time in your neck of the woods... Tetsworth... my uncle owned the Swan Inn there (I tended bar) and I bussed into Oxford every day to walk around and look at the wonderful architecture and walk along the river. Very beautiful... left a lasting impression. It's been a long time now... would love to get back there some day.

Cheers!
Ian

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Now I have two questions.

First why is it that there are no L400S is it simply because you all prefer the 300?

And second how do I get some of those cool club stickers??

you can't import a vehicle into Canada that wasn't originally made for this market unless it is at least 15 years old, so we can't get L400s for a little bit yet.

Cheers and Welcome Drooper!

The more the merrier, even if you drive a L400! :-P

As of next year we'll certainly start seeing some L400's arriving on the west coast; Victorian's and Vancouverites love there mall cruisers they don't ever get dirty.

So does that mean then if I was to want to move to canada I would have to wait until next year if I wanted to bring my deli with me?

Yes welcome indeed! I too grew up with The Banana Splits - not sure if it's a good thing though! :-D Light sensitive eyes eh? Were you ever a welder? I was in my youth, got a few flashes and have been extra sensitive ever since. I confess, I'm a little jealous of you delica drivers pretty much everywhere but North America, and a bit peeved that for whatever reason, we are restricted to 15 year old cast-offs. I sure would love to have acquired Hazel as a 2 or 3 year old pup, or at least have had the option... For stickers go to: http://www.delica.ca/forum/a-fresh-batc ... -2483.html Looking forward to seeing your pictures. Happy motoring :M :-D
