Delica Canada | Mitsubishi Van Club

I am in the works of buying a 1992 Delica and this puppy has a gas powered engine . Would anyone have any info on the pros and cons of the gas compared to the diesel engine?
I am planning to drive it down to Arizona once in a while and do a little rockhounding . What are the availability for parts down in the US?
Do you guys meet anywhere in Vancouver on Saturday or Sunday ?

pros of the gas engine:

- shorter engine life
- on average more expensive fuel (this varries)

parts availability in the US:
unknown for sure, the Delica was never imported to the US and is still not eligible for import there, however Mitsubishi did have what they called the "vanwagon" in the US for a couple years around 1990 which was a gas powered L300 van (very similar to the Delica except 2wd, low roof, and none of the fancy toys) most parts should be the same, especially on the gas version of the delica.

Pros of the gas engine:

- Power to pass any diesel Delica, remember to wave.
- possible to add a turbo and other power-up mods.

Just checked my Russek Manual and it states that the L300, JDM, has a 1597 c.c engine (4G32). Would assume an American model would have a higher displacement engine, like a 2 liter (4g63)?

Got my wondering - US Mits Van - 4G64, 2350 cc

1. Power, baby (already stated, but worth a second mention)

Cons:

1. Can't convert to veggie oil
2. Don't get the same rumbling sound as from a diesel engine

Pros of a gas engine:

1. Good donor van for diesel conversion.

It wasn't imported into the States, but it was sold there for about 3 years--the gasoline one. Dodge and Mitsubishi have a long-standing arrangement that goes all the way back to (and I think beyond) the Colt, so there may have been an understanding that Mitsubishi would not market something in America that would compete (read: blow the doors off) anything Dodge had to offer.

Sad really, because here we are 15-20 years later still suffering from poor selection and having to buy +15yr vehicles from Japan to get what we want for options. I'm not complaining, but it would seem the Big 3 really didn't learn anything from the Edsel...

the gasoline delica wont have any value at all, when you need air care maybe problem. its not worthof your money to buy gas power delica.
it will depreciete the value a lot.
diesel engine delica would last 500,000 kms depends on your usage.
but gas maybe less the 200 kms. who know;
just a thought. as we here mostly own diesel engine. no matter how cheap is this delica gas engine, its has no market value.

I'm not entirely sure you read what you quoted me as saying... I specifically stated that Mitsubishi imported a gasoline 2wd low roof, stripped down version of the Delica that they called the "VanWagon" in to the USA...
