Testing glow plugs ...

Hi,
I haven't found a good set of instructions for testing the glow plugs ... from general instructions I realise it's not a big deal, but I'm looking for specifics for the Delica. Where exactly are they? Anything else I should know?
If you could point me to answers to these questions, or answer them, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks,
-- Joel

remove the glow plugs, the top tip goes to positive and the threaded parts attaches to ground for few seconds and you'd see it is glowing, if not the plugs are gone.

OK. I'm just not exactly sure where they are. I know, I know, if I even have to ask that question I should probably just take it in, but I'd like to learn how to do some of these things.
Can anyone run this down in some more detail?
Thanks,
-- Joel

o.k. joel,
the glow plug is located beside the engine valve cover , as you can see when you are putting engine oil in to the engine.
now beside that facing the pass side you can see 4 glow plug.with wire attached on it. all been connected with flat silver plate. you wont miss it. it has a color of silver & green tip on it.like a samll candle.
not the injector that attached thru the fuel line.
not you dont need to take it out.
you basically used a meter see if there is a continuity of this plug. put one in the middle which is positive & one on the side as ground.
if there is no continuity there the glow plug is gone. if there is continuity then your glow plug is good. if still have problem call me anytime.will try to help you.
if your in vancovuer area you can drive down to rmd & will help you o.k.
hope this help you
cheers;

Thank-you so much Mardy - that's unbelievably helpful! Just having a bit more detail is enough to shake off my I'm-going-to-toast-the-van anxiety.

I just checked my glow plugs this weekend. As Mardy said, they're beside the bit with the oil cap, and there's a silver plate shaped sort of like a shallow w (with an extra leg). To test the plug take the positive wire and touch the top of the glow plug, take the negative wire and touch it to the threads of the plug. According to the manual I used the resistance should be 0.6-1.0 ohms with a somewhat cool engine. If the thing can't get a proper reading then the glow plug is probably shot.
The manual was called "Engine Electrical" and I downloaded it from somewhere on this site (or the link to it was somewhere on this site) but I can't seem to find it now. Search around, or perhaps someone else knows?
It has step by step instructions on checking all things electrical, with pictures. It's a pdf and I printed it off, along with a whole lot of other similar manuals. I know you can find some (but not the electrical one, sorry) on
www.enviroimports.com.
