I'm tryin hard to find parts for for this gas powered 4G64 Delica and I'm hoping that I am not put aside dressed up in a Star Treck uniform in a Caveman party!
Can anybody give me a realistic outlook of getting parts for a gas motor . I've done a little bit of homework and found that the 4G64 was put in the mitsubishi eclipse and also the galant.
The longitudinal 4G64 is the second largest variant, at (2350 cc). Early models were 8-valve SOHC, but a later 16-valve SOHC and DOHC version was also produced. All used MPFI with an 86.5 mm bore and 100 mm stroke. The 4G64 was also available with gasoline direct injection. The version used in the Chrysler Sebring/Stratus coupes produced 147 hp (110 kW) at 5500 rpm with 158 ft·lbf (214 N·m) of torque at 4000 rpm. The Chrysler version features fracture-split forged powder metal connecting rods.

Am I right into thinking that any of these cars that carry the 4G64 will be transferrable to the Delica. I even found a forklift company in Kentucky that are powered by the 4G64. Does anyone know of any place close to Vancouver that will service this vehicle or should I just go out and get a Caveman outfit

You don't have to "go out and get a caveman outfit" -- you gotta make it!

Unfortunately for you, the majority of us on this forum are driving the diesel versions of these vans. In fact, it might be you and another person who have the gasoline ones--sorry.

That being said, it looks as if you've done quite a bit of homework on your own. There's more information about the gasoline engine in your one post than I've read, EVER, on this forum.

Check with MardyDelica for information (he seems to be knowledgable with these vans), and then also call out to those Americans who have these (EastCoastL300 comes to mind). The gasoline varient also seems to have been popular/available in eastern Europe, so maybe brush up on your Polish and try there.

I've found some--and that is a heavily underlined/bolded/italicised/large font 'some'--success with the Mitsubishi dealers, but you have to be sneaky about it and tell them the part you want is for that particular engine (don't mention the vehicle). If they do ask for a vehicle, give them one from the list you've got going there: "Ya, it's for the Dodge Ram something-or-another." They support the engines in other vehicles (because those vehicles came with their engines), but not certain vehicles (like the Delica) because they weren't sold here in North America. Mitsubishi and Dodge have had a long-standing relationship which dates back to the Colt.

Your best and nearest bet might be just across the border in Washington State--the L300 was sold south of the border as a VanWagon from 1987-1990.

And don't fret about being a caveman... just think of how popular that caveman was/is for those commercials with... what was that company? product? thingy? <ha ha ha> "So easy, even a caveman can do it!" <smiles all around>

You can go with the North american transplants as well.

I did that with my Pajero 4D56 (same as 99% of the Delica's 2.5L) before all of the parts suppliers/importers sprouted up in the last few years.

early-mid 80's Dodge D50 pickup truck. Same engine as the Delica's and Pajero's. (not related to gas versions but same deal as getting parts for NA vehicles with the Mitsu engines in them stock).

I hate to say it but I too have a gas powered Delica. Thinking about changing my user name to black sheep. I have been driving it since last August and in that time I have checked part numbers and had them cross referenced with the guys at Lordco. They seem confident that all pieces need can be found quickly and for less than a dealer. Seem to be able to find everything pretty easy. The guys down at Japanoid have also been very good. Helping me find the parts needed. Some stuff, well all stuff right now seems special order. Air filters and oil filters are different from the diesel. I was worried that I may have problems with parts but so far so good. Haven't had to find any major parts yet though. Kinda hope i don't have to. But since it is a common engine with the other makes Japaniod and Lordco's expectations are good If I need parts. Its just how quickly they show up becomes the problem, I've found.

Yeah its gas but at least its still a Delica.
Oh and the price was right.
And my mileage is similar.

This week alone I have slept in it 3 times. Best Vehicle for work and travel. Love that Delica.

I know this is an oldish post but I too am a trekkie @ a caveman bash.

Thanks to your first post, I found a few good auto parts websites that allow crossreferencing parts for the 4G64 2.4L gas engine.

The most practical cars I found are the Dodge Ram 50 of your particular year and also the Mitsubishi Mighty Max.

The first two sites are US but have a more extensive parts list, the second two are Canadian.

I give no guarantees to the engines in these vehicles being identical to the Delicas but I'd be close to betting my left nut that they are (car manufacturers being what they are, money, money, money).

Getting parts is easier for the gas powered Delica than it had been for my diesel. The alternator was on the shelf, plugs, wires, filters, everything is on the shelf. The crossover for part numbers is to the Mitsubishi Vanwagon of the same vintage. All these parts were at NAPA here in Houston (BC that is) not really parts central. The rest of the drive train is the same as the diesel Delica.

It's a longshot, but does anyone know if the waterpump for the gas delica 4G94 16 valve engine is the same as for the diesel 4g56 ?
