I'm a newbie living in Vancouver and have been admiring Delicas for about 2+ years now. In April I through away my bus pass (which I have had for about 6 years now) and jumped into a 92 Exceed. I've been loving every moment I get to spend in it and still admiring it for my apartment window.
I have read a bunch of threads about different mods, upgrades and what have you to make these a better 4x4. My question is now being owner of a 4x4, no longer a passenger, and new to the 4x4 country and Delica world all together is Where do you start?
Would it be possible to put a list together from ”important” to “not so important” things to do to the Deli, to make sure she can get into and out of anything I can throw at it. I guess what I’m looking for is a point in the right direction.
I would also just like to say thanks to Mardy and the guys at CVI. They have helped me out a lot on servicing and getting me parts. Thanks Guys

Delicas work just fine as is. Only you can decide what modifications, if any, you need. And you can only do that after driving for a while. Enjoy your Delica and get to know it first.

The only mod I've done to Gumdrop (so far...) is upgrading the low-beam headlights to PIAA bulbs. This is less of an issue in the summer, but will be very welcome in the winter. The light has a bluish cast that looks a lot like HID (they're not), and they're a lot brighter than the original bulbs.

To start, you only need 2 things, a tow strap and an experienced friend. If you go with those, you will find out what stuff you need based on your experience. Your idea of off roading could be very different from the next guy.
