Polishing Exhaust Manifold

I have to remove the exhaust manifold to replace the gasket. I figure that at this time it would be fun to polish the insides for smoother flow. Has anybody done this on any vehicle? Some handy tips would be useful here. Should I do the intake manifold while I'm at it. I'll also drill and tap for the EGT probe at the same time.
Thanks in advance.

I guess you're talking about porting and polishing? I have no idea how much gain you'd get on this diesel engine but I did it on a '89 XR4Ti 2.4L turbo gasoline engine along with many other mods and that little thing would breath and go like stink.
It's been many years since but I recall using a die (or similar to paint) to cover the entire inside body. That way when you grind you know what you've missed. It's a lot of work though, I couldn't feel my hand at the end from all the vibration holding that grinder (not sure if that's how it's called but similar to a dremmel with a pointy abrasive tip to slowly and painfully remove the precious metal.) And the one I had was hooked onto a compressor and was much more powerful than a electrical one. Just make sure not to remove too much metal...
Let us know how it goes, and good luck!
