Curious about something connected to Throttle???

Hey folks, this occured awhile ago, and I solved it easily by replacing the bolt, but I am still puzzled as to why I could still drive through all the mountains from Vancouver to Canmore, hauling a whole family of three kids, gear, and several hundred litres of WVO with this simple cable disconnected. I only noticed in Canmore, because I was showing a friend my recent WVO modifications, and noticed the cable hanging to the side and a bolt missing. I'm sure its obvious but can someone tell me what this is??
Thanks..

I'm not sure hpw to draw on the picture ti illustrate. But the cable that has the orange rubber surrounding it and is what I am refering to. This photo is after I bolted it...

Been there, opened the 'hood' to show a friend my conversion three summers ago in Edmonton, and noticed that bolt missing on my kick down cable. Would seem you don't notice the transmission needing the lower gears, at WOT, in the flatter provinces.

How's the greasy driving going?

Cheers,
Kev - the guy who was to busy to help.

Adjusting that cable (or having it off) affects your shift points. If you peel back the rubber boot there should be no slack in that cable, and no tension either. When properly adjusted it should shift into overdrive at 60km/h when you aren't matting it.
