Hey guys,

sounds like I need new front brakepads, can anyone recommend a shop in north van or lower mainland somewhere, is any old brake shop fine or do I need to go somewhere special to get the right pad and then find a mechanic that isn't afraid of delicas?

This is a very simple procedure that you can do yourself in an hour depending on your aptitude,just ask the questions and we'll respond. if you like. ill be doing mine soon and ill take lots of photos for you .if you like....or we can hook up and ill do'em with ya.

yeah this is one of those things I'd rather have a shop do, I've done brakepads a few times before, but don't have the right tools, time, or a garage etc.. I guess I will stop by a few shops and see what they say.

If it's just brake pads, they will charge you .75 hr or 1 hr MAX for both sides together.

Simple to do and if anyone charges you more than 1hr labor, you are getting ripped off as it's .75 in the book for time on the Mitsu montero which is the same spec as Delica.

Any place will do them.

All you have to say is it's a 1988 Mitsubishi Montero.

Front brakes are the same.

Alright, checked the pads and they were fine, culprit was a lot of mud packed in everything

Cleaned all that up, everything was good for a while, now I have a sticking caliper on the driver wheel.

Took it apart tonight and low and behold:



At some point (I suspect when my mechanic checked the pads) the caliper housing was closed and pinched the clip for the inside pad in the rubber seal around the piston. Water/mud/etc got in around there, rusted it, and now she is sticking!

I did some reading through the FAQ and wiki, got all sorts of different part numbers.

Anyone know offhand the correct part # for the front right caliper, or I just go to a shop and tell em it's an '88 montero?

Yep, tell them you want an 88 or 89 Montero front (left ot right) caliper. I paid $52.70 from Lordco for my Pajero.

I would recommend always replacing both at the same time.
